Marshfield girls golf team qualifies for state

The Marshfield girls golf team is headed to the state championships.

The Marshfield golfers finished fourth in the 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 3 Tournament at Florence Golf Links to clinch an automatic berth in the state tournament.

The top four teams and top five individual golfers earned state berths. Marist Catholic won the district title with St. Mary’s Medford second, North Bend third and Marshfield fourth.

Sophomore Bella Roberts led Marshfield with rounds of 98 and 97 to finish sixth overall. Sophomore Shay Herzog was 17th with rounds of 102 and 115 while senior Emily Ryan was 22nd with rounds of 116 and 112.

Sophomore Analise McCord finished 23rd with rounds of 110 and 119 while freshman Eva Gauthier finished 27th with rounds of 115 and 119.

Marshfield, coached by Andrew Simpson, will compete in the state tournament May 16 and 16 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
