Coos Bay school district is preparing for mediation with CBEA as bargaining has stalled over salary increases. The district has proposed increases of 6.5% for this year and 4% for next year in addition to annual 3% "step" increases. Most licensed staff would receive a salary increase of at least 13.5% during the two-year contract.
The district's proposal also increases insurance benefits to $1,700/month and tuition reimbursement funds to $650/employee; adds extra paid days for nurses, middle school counselors, and workplace relocation; and strengthens language around classroom discipline, prep time, and unassigned time.
