Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Presents: Habitats and Faunas of the Deepest Places on Earth

Dr.Jamieson, the undisputed world authority on the biology of deep ocean trenches, was the scientific leader of the recent 5-seas expeditions that visited, for the first time ever, the deepest point in every ocean of the world. The dives were made in the newly engineered DSV Limiting Factor, the only vehicle currently capable of reaching extreme ocean depths. This unique talk will give the scientific back story of the upcoming 5-part Discovery Channel program “Expedition Deep Ocean.” Dr. Jamieson’s significant discoveries include the deepest living fishes in the ocean, super giant amphipods in the Mariana Trench, and the presence of plastics in animals from extreme depths.
