2020 - 2021 PAEMST Grade 7-12 Nominations Open

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K–12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching.

Anyone—principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public—may nominate exceptional STEM teachers who are currently teaching grades 7–12 for the 2020–2021 award year. Teachers may also apply directly at www.paemst.org.

The nomination deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application deadline is April 1, 2021, for secondary teachers (grades 7–12). Elementary teachers (grades K–6) will be eligible to apply during a future cycle.

Education Support Professional of the Year Program

 
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE), in partnership with the Oregon State Lottery, is launching a new program recognizing the outstanding contributions of Oregon’s Education Support Professionals (ESP)!
 
Nominations for the 2021 Oregon Education Support Professional of the Year are open now through January 3, 2021. The winner will be surprised with a special announcement in April 2021. Educators nominated for Education Support Professional of the Year must be currently employed by an Oregon public K-12 school or school district and meet the definition of an ESP in Oregon.

Bay Area Chamber of Commerce 2020 Excellent in Education Award

 
The Chamber Education and Workforce Committee recognizes “educators” at all levels of involvement, especially those who have contributed to the educational process through direct student involvement or partnership activities. An “educator” can be defined as any licensed educator, administrator, counselor, parent, support staff or anyone who may have contributed to “education” in any way. Nominations may come from any employee, student, parent, Chamber member or community member within the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce service area. The nomination form may be duplicated and there is not a limit to the number of educators you can nominate. 

Deadline for all applications is 12/11/2020  

Thank you to EVERYONE for ALL that you do each and every day! Whether you are a teacher, paraprofessional, nurse assistant, building maintenance, food service person, secretary, custodian, coach, a volunteer, or an administrator, you ALL are very important and take part in the education of students and their success. Keep doing the GREAT things you are meant to do!

2022 Oregon's Teacher of the Year

The Oregon Department of Education, in partnership with the Oregon Lottery, is pleased to announce that the Oregon Teacher of the Year program is again honoring exemplary educators in every region of the state!

  • Nominations are open statewide through January 31, 2021
  • Teachers will submit their applications by March 27, 2021
  • Oregon Education Service Districts will select a winner from their region
  • Regional Teachers of the Year will be honored across the state in May 2021!
  • One of the Regional Teachers of the Year will be named the 2022 Oregon Teacher of the Year in September 2021!

Regional Teachers of the Year will receive a cash prize of $500 and will be celebrated across the state.  The 2022 Oregon Teacher of the Year will receive a $5,000 cash prize (with a matching $5,000 going to their school!) and serve as a spokesperson and representative for all Oregon teachers.

Anyone can nominate a teacher! Coos Bay School District Community, please nominate your favorite teacher today at oregonteacheroftheyear.org. This teacher just may be selected as the Coos Bay ESD Regional Teacher of the Year and be in the running for the honor of 2022 Oregon Teacher of the Year!
